Snow at the Lake

I took a day trip to Lake Tahoe recently.  Lake Tahoe is a very large lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains on the border between California and Nevada.  It is at an elevation of about 6,200 feet ( almost 1,900 meters ).  During the winter it is a popular ski destination with many resorts in the area.  In fact, Squaw Valley, the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics is located near Lake Tahoe.

The drive from the Bay Area is about 3 hours, depending on traffic.  It snowed the night before I drove up so the view of the snow capped mountains was particularly beautiful.
